the muted ocean

Last weekend I ventured out into the gloomy and drizzle filled outdoors only to discover the unsurpassably beauty of the muted ocean hues.  The water was in areas dark and deep, while in other parts, seafoam greens with white swirls of foam.  The variety of animals that day was also wonderfully delightful, for I saw many a cormorant, along with pelicans, seagulls, sand pipers, and one egret.  Besides the highflying wonders, I observed the seals and the sea lions.  As it happened, a hopelessly lost and lonely sea lion youngster found himself (or herself) wandering among the seals, being rejected by all.  Seal mothers and their quite young children enjoyed flopping down to the water in order to take a dip in the refreshingly cool water.
It is days like these that provide a new outlook upon the natural world and the beauty it beholds.

in awe of nature, and hope you are too
