pleasant chirps

Sunday, March 22, 2015

I recently had the pleasure of observing many of the chirpy birds that like to sing the days away.  This of course took place during some intense procrastination...  But nonetheless it was worth the while.  -mazz

Winter?

Saturday, March 14, 2015

Can you believe this is winter??? We have gotten some wonderfully hot weather here (up to 94º today!) and what better way to use it than to go to the beach. So much fun walking along the beach twirling and talking about learning how to surf. Seriously... as soon as school ends summer goal #1 is to learn how to surf (well, at least to do it once).
On the subject of summer lets not forget camping in Big Sur hopefully with these amazing ladies (*cue wondrous gasp*) and possibly going to Peru(!!!), and of course goal #2 is finding and running through a wild sunflower field. Maybe my head is in the clouds but that would just be so perfect.

Anyway,
here's to more beach days, flowers, and finding love in everything,

waffles and stress-relief on Pi day

sometimes, we're handed rather odd circumstances, the so-called, cliché lemons of life. these are times whose motivations we can't fathom, and outcomes are too foggy to see. don't worry. go to the beach. breathe in the ocean scents. watch the sun rise over the cliffs. see the light play on the white-caps. run with your dog. dig your toes into the sand. let the wind tickle your neck & tie your hair. say hi to strangers. do yoga on the shore. life is a pendulum, find your rhythm again and let the constant sway pull you back in.
and then go home and make waffles for the entire family.

clouds and john green vibes

"I decided a while ago not to deny myself the simpler pleasures of existence"  John Green

“It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important.”
― Arthur Conan Doyle

Its important to sometimes just sit back and appreciate the little things.

I guess I'm seriously channelling John Green vibes today- but it's also totally fitting my life right now.

Turns out that it does actually rain in the desert. And the best thing about rain is that it brings amazing clouds and you have an excuse to drink hot chocolate. (can we just stop for a moment and recognize the beauty of these clouds?!) Oh- and dont forget the big sweaters and lit up fireplaces. Basically, it's the desert's version of a snow day, and i love every second of it.

love,

the muted ocean

Sunday, March 1, 2015

Last weekend I ventured out into the gloomy and drizzle filled outdoors only to discover the unsurpassably beauty of the muted ocean hues.  The water was in areas dark and deep, while in other parts, seafoam greens with white swirls of foam.  The variety of animals that day was also wonderfully delightful, for I saw many a cormorant, along with pelicans, seagulls, sand pipers, and one egret.  Besides the highflying wonders, I observed the seals and the sea lions.  As it happened, a hopelessly lost and lonely sea lion youngster found himself (or herself) wandering among the seals, being rejected by all.  Seal mothers and their quite young children enjoyed flopping down to the water in order to take a dip in the refreshingly cool water.
It is days like these that provide a new outlook upon the natural world and the beauty it beholds.

in awe of nature, and hope you are too
